6 Best Travel Locations Sweden
If you ever have the chance to visit Sweden, we seriously suggest that you go. Many people herald it as one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It certainly helps that it is so varied in terms of its landscape too. Here is the 6 Best Travel Locations Sweden we suggest.
Stockholm
First, on our list for the 6 Best Travel Locations Sweden, we have to kick off with Stockholm. The whole city is built on various islands, and it really is a beautiful sight. Despite the city being over 1,000 years old, many of the areas have a distinctively modern feel to them. The fashion sense in the city is brilliant. The food is even better. Honestly, this is probably one of the most charming cities in Europe.
Gothenburg
This city in the west of Sweden is a bit smaller than Stockholm, but it is just as brilliant. Markets dominate the street. Fantastic Michelin-starred restaurants, museums, botanical gardens, cobbled streets. Food is truly phenomenal. What more could you possibly ask for?
ICEHOTEL
You have probably seen this crop up online from time to time. Located in Jukkasjärv is ICEHOTEL. As you may have guessed, this is a hotel that has been completely constructed from ice. The hotel is only open four months per year, then it melts. This is a great place to be as it provides easy access to the rest of the Arctic. If you follow the Arctic Trail, you will discover the Sami people. They are vastly different to the rest of the Swedes. If you are lucky enough, you may be able to see the Northern Lights from up here.
Kalmar
Kalmar is a tiny city but it has a lot of character. There are museums and a castle to visit. Just a short boat or card trip away is the island called Öland, which incidentally means ‘island’ in Swedish. This place is filled with tiny villages which are just begging to be explored. There are lighthouses. There are large expanses of land to explore. You can really experience what it is like to be a Swede here. Fantastic place to head in the summer months!
Marstrand
If you are going to Gothenburg, you need to go to Marstrand Island. It is just an hour away. This is the place where royalty and celebrities come to mingle. Of course, many of the things to do here will err on the pricier side of things, but even if you are not planning on spending a penny, it is still a fantastic place to explore!
Gotland
The last place we want to talk about is Gotland. You are going to need to hop on a ferry from Oskarshamn here. The city of Visby will be your first introduction to Gotland. This city has been kicking around since the Middle Ages. The whole city is steeped in history and is just begging to be explored. June is probably the best time to head to the island as it really takes on a life of its own around then.
These are what we have down as the 6 Best Travel Locations Sweden has to offer, but there are much more. Share your stories and adventures with us, and we will follow up with more great things to do in Sweden shortly. For more places in Europe, read more here.
